Veterinarians are finally seeing the outcomes of studies that confirm a link between grain free diets and heart disease.
Grains are not "bad" for dogs. Dogs have been eating human food for thousands of years, and their intestinal tracts have adapted to our "hunter/gatherer" plant and grain laden diets.
When the pet food companies decided to produce grain free dog foods, they substituted peas and other legumes for the healthier grains.... and then veterinarians started seeing a dramatic up-tick in Dilatative Cardiomyopathy.
Everyone out there with dogs: Please reconsider your grain free diet purchase. Very few dogs have "real" food allergies. Very few dogs actually require grain free diets.
Please consult with your veterinarian about this if you are still confused after reading this well written article.
Sincerely,
